Storytime-in-a-Box Combines Books, Skill Building and Crafts into a Cohesive Learning Experience
LAS VEGAS (March 4, 2026) – A beloved early-learning initiative at Enterprise Library in Las Vegas will continue through 2026 with renewed support from VegasTickets.com. Since launching in 2024, the Lil’ Learners Activity Kits have transformed traditional storytime into a portable, self-guided learning experience children can enjoy anytime, anywhere. Funded by the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District and local donors, the program is getting an additional $25,000 from VegasTickets.com, bringing its total investment in the program to $75,000 since its launch in 2024.
Lil’ Learner kits, available at Enterprise Library’s monthly Preschool Fun Storytime and Club STEAM events, are loaded with books, skill-building exercises, crafts, and activity projects. The goals are to encourage early literacy and skill development through guided, hands-on activities; empower caregivers as a child’s first teacher; extend library programming to families unable to attend in-person events; and introduce families to additional library services and resources. By meeting children where they are, both physically and developmentally, Lil’ Learners expands the reach and relevance of library services in a way that is practical and engaging. In 2025, the Library District provided 3,600 Lil’ Learner boxes to customers.
“The program emerged in response to a growing need identified by library staff and families,” said Enterprise Library Branch Manager Marie Nicholl-Lynam, who led the program’s development. “While in-person storytimes are highly popular, many caregivers face scheduling, transportation, or work-related barriers that limit their ability to attend regularly. Lil’ Learners addresses this challenge by extending the storytime experience beyond library walls and into the home, allowing families to engage in early learning on their own time. The Library District and the families who make Enterprise Library their second home appreciate the continued generosity of VegasTickets.com.”
Company owner Roger Jones and Christy Jones, chair of the VegasTickets.com Charitable Giving Program, presented the library with a check on March 3, 2026, for the program’s third-year funding. The pair then joined the weekly storytime session in conjunction with distribution of the Lil’ Learners kits.
“I know from personal experience how great libraries are, both for expanding educational experiences and, importantly, as safe havens for children in threatening situations,” said Roger Jones, who found safety in his local library in Chicago from an abusive household and bullying at school. “When my wife, Christy, and I heard about the Lil’ Learners program, we appreciated its creativity, interactivity, and portability, and how it helps parents help their kids develop a love of learning and for libraries.”
Lil’ Learner Activity Kits are free and available for pickup at the Enterprise Library (located at 8310 S. Las Vegas Blvd.) after the first Preschool Fun Storytime (ages 3-5) and first Club STEAM (ages 6-8) event of each month. Kits are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please see the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District Event Calendar for dates and times.
